Feeding Beatrice at the Aurora Fox Arts Center
Every October this city pays $30 a head to get chased through a warehouse by teenagers in Spirit Halloween masks. The Aurora Fox is offering the grown-up version. Feeding Beatrice, Kirsten Greenidge's gothic horror comedy, is getting its Colorado premiere on the Fox mainstage through November 1, and there is a 2 PM matinee today if your Sunday has a hole in it. Tickets run $17 to $45, the show is 17 and up, and the theater sits on East Colfax in the Aurora Cultural Arts District with its own lot next door, which anywhere on Colfax qualifies as a special effect. Regional premieres of actual horror theater do not come through often, and this one still has three weekends left. The desk says go.

Evanescence at Red Rocks
Evanescence at Red Rocks on October 26 is running about $293 after resale fees, for a Monday night in late October when the amphitheater goes full meat locker after sunset. That is five and a half Rebecca Black tickets. And Rebecca Black, who survived becoming the internet's favorite punchline and built a real career out of the wreckage, plays the Gothic in Englewood that exact same night, 8 PM, about $52, indoors, where your hands will still work by the encore. Spiritbox on the Evanescence bill is a genuine draw, but not at a markup that steep. Take the Gothic.
